Hello.
I have the same problem, I'm using Notepad++ 5.1.1 (UNICODE).
After deleting NppAutoIndent.dll from the plugin's folder, everything works
ok now, I think there is the problem...

I consider find prev/next change ESSENTIAL to any compare function.

Winmerge is by far the best free compare for windows I have found. It would
be nice, if that functionality could be duplicated in notepad++

It's a hypothetical question, so I am not sure how many files. But it's probably
no more than 500 in my case.

But that's not really an issue I think, because it's possible to search in files
without actually opening them, why isn't that the case with search/replace?

After clicking View in Hex, Notepad++ crashes on both Windows XP and Vista
Ultimate
64-bit.

XP pops a error message windows titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library."
Buffer overrun detected....

The Vista-64 crashes with the entry from the event viewer:

Faulting application notepad++.exe, version 5.1.1.0, time stamp 0x4919bf0d,
faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code
0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00680053, process id 0x2600, application start time
0x01c9549204098160.

Would someone helps me with this problem. Thank you very much.

I'm using Vista SP1 and Notepad++ 5.1.1 ANSI, and it works perfectly. It might
be that this bug was present in 5.1 but it was fixed in 5.1.1, try using that.

My N++ version does it - and much more (without even focusing on the search
result pane). Just hit F4 or Shift+F4:

Michael Br?gmann has provided a German translation for the plugin. Those
interested
can get it from the a/m webpage, or from CVS of npp-plugins
http://npp-plugins.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/npp-plugins/NppPlugins/MultiClipbo
ard/lang/

Because the editor probably isn't actually doing the searching, though I haven't
seen the source code. In MicroEMACS for instance it has command line access
to let you run GREP which does the searching. You hit a key-stroke and it fire
up GREP (or whatever tool you decide to use) and let it do the work.

There are scriptable editors like GNU SED (Stream Editor) that can do search
& replace on the command line, without the need for an editor. They're a little
tricky but free, if you download the GNU package from sourceforge.

For instance with SED I have wGET download a Wiki Web Page off the internet,
then I have SED go thru and grab all the <a href= lines out of the file, edit
out everything but the hrefs, then download those pages via wGET. Then once
I have all the source pages, I use SED to edit out all of the important entries
in each page and compile them into one single page (two pages actually, each
about ~2 megs). Takes about 15 minutes, once per week. It would take hours if
I did it by hand.

You can accomplish almost the same thing with probably VBScript and a few other
tools like AutoHotKey and so on. It just depends on your computer
skills/knowledge.
