Hi

I think I have found a bug to do with block select.

I can select ok, using alt and mouse, I can copy and paste, etc.

However when I try and do a replace with 'In selection' ticked I get it
replacing
anywhere on the lines that the selection box touches, ie stuff out side the
selection.

I know this may sound a petty thing but in my job it would be incredibly
usefull.

Regards

Peter Craig

I have the file doLocalConf.xml and I was editing the right file in
%AppData%\Notepad++.
But I also tried the one in the Notepad++ installation folder too.
I verified with filemon, the %AppData%\Notepad++ is well read, as well as the
one in the install folder....

I can also edit asp (or any language for that matter) keywords, delete all of
them if I want, the changes are not taken into account, the word are still
colored.

I don't know what to do.
And I really don't know from what file notepad is reading the preferences....

Thanks for any support,
Mickael.

I was wondering if there was a turtle RDF api or language definition in the
works or even available?

Capture groups don't seem to be behaving as expected in Find/Replace
operations.

To reproduce...

1 - Start with this existing text in Notepad++...

**
29th of December
30th of December
31st of December
1st of January
2nd of January

**

2 - Let's assume you need the text reformatted like so...

**
December 29th
December 30th
December 31st
January 1st
January 2nd
**

3 - Hit Ctrl+R to invoke the Find/Replace dialog.

4 - In the top textarea, type...

([0-9]+..) of ([a-z]+)

5 - In the bottom textarea, type...

\2 \1

6 - Ensure 'Regular Expr' is selected.

7. Click 'Find'. The first matching row of text is selected.

8. Click 'Repl&FAgain' to replace that row with your text and repeat the Find
operation from step 7.

9. Click 'Repl&FAgain' to repeat step 8. Note that the text has been replaced
with an empty line -- not your replacement text.

Further invocations of 'Repl&FAgain' produce rows of empty text.

The issue seems to center around the 'Repl&FAgain' routine itself...

- Starting the sequence with the 'Find' button and then using 'Replace Rest'
doesn't exhibit the behavior.
- Starting the sequence with the 'Find' button, and then using 'Repl&FAgain'
will produce the empty rows of text until you click 'Replace Rest', which will
replace the rest of the matches as expected.

Are you using Windows Vista? If so, I think I know what it is. It's Vista's
"Virtual Store" folder. If Notepad++ is installed in the usual C:\Program Files
folder, it must get some kind of authorization in order to write to the files
in that folder; the program must be "Vista aware". I think this has just been
fixed with version 5.1.2, but earlier this feature wasn't present.

Anyway, try this: go to
C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Notepad++. If you
see some files there, then that's the problem. Edit the files in this folder,
and not the ones in the real folder, to see that changes take effect.

This is all due to a security feature introduced by Vista: its purpose is not
letting programs access data they are not authorized to, to prevent malware
from damaging you, so if a program wants to modify a file without having the
authorization, it modifies the copy in the virtual store folder. Unfortunately,
this feature isn't widely known, so people get a terrible headache when they
have to deal with it, which is exactly what happened to me, only slightly
different:
I was downloading plugins to N++'s folder, and then I didn't see them using
Windows Explorer or any other file manager.

To solve it, an easy way is moving Notepad++ from C:\Program Files\Notepad++
to C:\Notepad++; this one is a "standard" folder and is not protected by the
virtual store.

If you are not using Vista, or if this doesn't solve it, I'm sorry but I don't
have any other ideas on what it might be.

Is there some way to have Notepad ++ show me a list of all
methods/functions/variables/stuff in a given source file? This would be a
feature
a lot like how Visual Studio has a drop down of methods/functions for a given
source file.

Otherwise, love this awesomely good text editor.

I just dug into history, because you may not know its entrance. See the Forums
menu, to find het HIDDEN search function at the bottom of it.

Read this message and you may get a clue about what and how to do:
