Do you remember if you made any changes right before it started crashing? For
example, did it start crashing from version 5.1.4? Or from the moment you
installed
a certain plugin? In case, you might try downgrading, or uninstalling the most
recent plugin.

Otherwise, I'm sorry but I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the next version,
and hope it'll be fixed.

when i am trying to update the notepad++ from ?->"update Notepad++", it shows
an alert saying "Failed to connect to 216.34.181.96: Bad Access"

Notepad++ is in the list of allowed applications in my firewall application
(McAfee).

I am currently using v5.1.3. I know it is the latest version. but it may not
allow me to update the application in the future.

Well, I don't know what's causing your problem, but 5.1.3 is not the latest
version, it's 5.1.4. However, I'm not sure it's already available for
auto-update,
Don might have decided to get some feedback before making it available for the
auto updater. In this sense, it might be true that you have the latest version
- at least, the latest available through auto update.

If you need to update, however, you can download the file manually.

Hi,

can you please think about a new command line parameter? This parameter should
make it possible to open a file and select a certain string (identified as bytes
x to y).

The jump to line feature is really good, but for a school project i need to
select a text within a file.

PS: I dont know if there already was such a request. I didnt find a "search"
button to search in this forum...

Thank you in Advance,
Simon aka Bratkartoffel

Thanks, this version is now also working.

I knew about insertExt.ini, but had missed the fact that it shouldn't be in
plugin/config/, but in the main N++ folder instead.

Thanks for the tip.

Btw, apart from the bigger size and the nonstandard config scheme, what does
make the two versions different?

CChris

Thank you Harry for your answer. I'm writing for unicode version of Notepad++.
You where right about unicode strings. This snippet works as expected:

var
s: WideString;
begin
  SetLength(s, MAX_PATH);
  FormMain:= TFormMain.Create(Self);
  with FormMain do begin
    if SendMessage(self.NppData.NppHandle, NPPM_GETFULLCURRENTPATH, 0,
LPARAM(PWideChar(s))) <>0 then
    begin
      SetCaption(s);
      ShowModal;
      Free;
    end;
  end;

I just need to find out functions names for conversion to/from unicode, length
etc... Old functions are not compatibile...

Best regards,
And thanks again.
Maki.

Thank you for a comment. But AFAIK 0 as parameter means that Notepad++ should
not check for buffer size. See my newer post, the problem was resolved.

Best regards,
Maki.

Well I entered ^ as the FIND WHAT and then used ^New Text_ as the replacement
using REG EXP.

Hitting REPLACE ALL got the same message as you. However hitting REPLACE a few
times, did each replace. It put New Text_ at the beginning of each line.

You might have to play with finding the first one.

It might be the REPLACE ALL just doesn't work the way it should.

GNU has text utils for Windows (assuming you are using a Windows PC) and you
might try using those utlitities to do massive Search & Replaces with regexps.
Then you could either write a RUN command for it on the Notepad++ menu or simply
run it externally and reload.

A pain, but workable.

Assuming there's no white space after the last ) the regexp for that is:

)$

Try it in a hand search using regexp.

Whoops! Just tested it. Notepad++ can't find it, but my GNU Grep tool which
uses regular expressions found both of them.

See what you come up with.

Here's the output from my command prompt
J:\Temporary>type crap-reg-exp.txt
test one
test two)
test )three)
J:\Temporary>grep -r ")$" crap-reg-exp.txt
test two)
test )three)

J:\Temporary>
it can be that a plugin that came with v5.1.3 causes the crash problem.
Therefor you have to uninstall the old version or try installing v5.1.4 in a
other folder.
uninstalling the old version can cause losing your preferences but this is
something
Donho has to confirm
