I have made a file extension .p where I use # to comment lines. I have opened
the "User ddefine dialog" created a new language for this extension. Under
"Comment
& Number -> comment line" I have choosen green as color and typed "#".

But no comments starting with # are green, how do I define that a line starting
with # should be green?

1) Selecting "Treat keyword as symbol" just paints everything green even though
I have not entered # as a symbol.

2) Blank space after # does nothing, only if I treat it as a symbol but then
its the same as above.

Sorry, I spoke too fast.
for the R language I have:
Comments&Numbers -> Comment line -> Treat keyword as symbol and then the #
alone.
Nothing else.
I don't know if it is relevant, but I run 5.1.4 I had problems with the 5.0.x
for the User Defined Languages.
Hope it helps.

Just updated to 5.1.4 but it still does not work (did what you posted in latest
post).

Maybe its a bug that only appears on Windows Vista 64 bit.

Hm now it works! Uninstalled the old version first and then installed the new
version.

Any ideas on how to create another color for strings surrounded by "string" ?

Another thing, its not possible to make changes to a profile.

When I created the profile to start with I defined a operator '='. If I remove
that operator from the language profile and restart nodepad++ its appears again
in that profile. Only solution is to create a new profile.

...best thing it seems is to avoid using the language configuratior so far.

This was exactly what happened to me with 5.0 on Win XP 32bits!
What happens if you manually edit the
"C:\Users\mvalle\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\userDefineLang.xml" file?
Beisde this, I run out of ideas.
Good luck!
 mario

(Sorry if it has been posted before, but I cannot seem to find it)

I' using notepad++ 5.1.2 (Unicode) and I don't know what happend, but any file
that is associated with notepad++ gives me an empty icon in my XP (empty as
non recognized icon, not blank). Any suggestions?

Another question: I can use the autocomplete which is nice, but how can I make
auto-complete works when I'm writing HTML & Javascript on the same file? do
I need to keep switching back and forth in the Lanaguage menu???

Thanks,
Hetz

Hi,
Is there a shortcut to allow you to jump from an opening bracket (be it square,
angle, regular or curly) to the matching closing bracket? I've gone through
the shortcut list a couple of times but not found anything.

if (!isset($DONT_LOAD_DB)) {
    $cmsdb =& $gCms->GetDB();
//    $cmsdb->Execute('set names utf8'); // database connection with utf-8
}

I.e. in that simplified code, if I had the cursor next to the first curly and
pressed the shortcut it would jump to the other curly.
Unfortunately paragraph jump just doesn't do what I need.

Thanks

Oh yeah it's definitely a bug. It's existed for over a year and still not been
fixed. If it's a simple replacement as janschreiber suggested, it would be nice
to finally fix it.

I was wondering if anyone knows a way to detect the proper syntax for EDI X12
documents. I am finding it very difficult to customize it on my own because
of odd/different rules for these types of documents. For example, a ~ should
translate into a carriage return, and any data in between * * represents a cell
of data.
