i think I have read all on this and cannot get it to work. help please.
the latest notepad++ is installed.
c:\program files (x86)\notepad++
i have installed Aspell and placed it all here:
c:\program files (x86)\notepad++\plugins
specifically, this exists:
c:\program files (x86)\notepad++\plugins\Aspell\bin\
when the prompt appears for the Aspell relative path, I enter
=..\Aspell\bin
this must be wrong; I have tried many variants. including
=..\plugins\Aspell\bin
Can someone help?

You did it wrong...
What you do is:
1) Go to http://aspell.net/win32/.
2) Download the full installer and install it to the default directory they
prompt you to install to (of course, change Program Files to Program Files (x86)
)
3) Then download the English Dictionary and install that using the default
directory,
just add x86.
4) Install any other languages the same way...
5) Then Notepad++ should recongize it, like it did for me...
Of course, change the path back to the original one and uninstall Aspell. (You
don't put it in the Notepad++ directory, that's wrong...)

Are you using the .zip version on your home computer or portable?
Because if you're using it on a home computer, why don't you use the .exe
version?
Easy install, easy uninstall. When you upgrade, download the new installer and
Voila! Your notepad++ gets updated!

Ok, I'm having this weird problem in 5.0.3, (yes, I'm using that, because all
other versions crash all the time and it annoys the living eff out of me) where
N++ decides to create directories with names like
"??????????????????????????
???????g" in the same directory as the file I'm editing.
This has never happened before, and I'd like it to stop. What can I do? Except
"up"grading to a version that crashes every 2 seconds?

Announcing a new External Lexers Plugin.
N++ External Lexers plugin was created to make it extremely easy to create your
own external lexer plugins to use with Notepad++. It requires 5.1.4 and can
be built for either ansi or unicode.
For those who are new to writing lexers it provides some helpful examples and
lots of notes/comments. For people who already use several external lexers and
continuously tinker around making more, this plugin streamlines the interface
and makes for quicker and cleaner coding.
It is a pretty complete rewrite of the MyLexerTemplate by Kyle Fleming. With
a new plugin and lexer interface implementation that extends the current
interface
and makes for extremely simple lexer implementation. Essentially ten steps.
Included with the plugin are four different lexers:
1. Template* - A template lexer that does nothing. It is for use with
the
instructions in the Help.txt file for making your own lexers.
2. MYUSERLANG* - A bare bones conversion of a user defined language to
an
external lexer.
3. Conf* - An Apache config file lexer with folding of comments and
directive
blocks.
4. PowerShell* - A complete lexer with style nesting, highlighters,
and multiple
folding styles.
Huge thanks and credit go to the following for being kind enough to share their
time and knowledge by releasing sources to their projects:
Don Ho - for Notepad++.
Neil Hodgson - for Scintilla.
Jens Lorenz - for the great example plugins.

I've found out! The reason was that I during long time didn't update notepad++
with help of installer. In binary updates gup is missed.
