Hi

I keep finding NP++ crashing intermittently when I use split views and/or user
defined syntax coloring. Just wondering if any one else has experienced the
same thing? What seems to happen is that the main window becomes unresponsive
and hangs whilst looking in Process Explorer shows all the threads have died
- very strange.

Perhaps I can put it into some debugging mode?

Cheers
Blair

All sound like good suggestions. I'm also going to put "views" support in,
so you can search both views or just the active one.

I'll try and get those in the next release, which won't be for a while as I'm
away for a couple of weeks now. I'm currently working on integrating it with
the Ctrl-Tab functionality, to try and get a workable interface.

Thanks ever so much for the feedback.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi fwoncn,

thanks for the feedback, it seems that Npp doesn't provide an option to change
the encoding it uses. This is really sad, since I was just assuming that I can't
simply find it...

I also experience the problem. Notepad++ doesn't detect the System Locale.
Anyway
changing the System Locale is not something you want to often as I have to
reboot
everytime my PC.
Luckily Microsoft have developed the AppLocale utility for testing purposes:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx

However I would love to be able to switch the locale from within Notepad++!

When you try to open or save a file with Notepad++ the default location given
is the main User Folder on Windows XP. I would like to see this changed to the
actual My Documents directory as that is the location for storing files. I also
noticed Notepad++ creates a SciTE.session file in this directory. This file
should be moved to the Application Data\Notepad++ directory. For now I
workaround
this issue by specifying manually a working directory for Notepad++ shortcuts.

Oh, and apparently a fresh install solves this too. Should have tried that
before.
That's one good thing coming from my hdd crashing.

I'm trying to use notepadd++ to edit ruby files.

I followed the instructions on the Notepad++ site regarding
autocompletion. I downloaded the ruby.api file into the
notepad/plugins/APIs folder. I'm not seeing Auto Completion behavior
from the editor. What doesn't make sense is that the ruby.api file is
not xml and that all of the other files in the directory are. Is the
doc and/or api file out of date? Is there some other process to
follow? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Acheron,

thanks a lot for the hint. This partially solves the problem, but unfortunately
is not very convenient to use...

My PHP file contains php, html, css and javascript. Whenever I select anything
to comment, it always comments it using PHP style commenting, even if its html
or css or javascript. Any way to force N++ to at least try to determine if
the text is html or php or css or javascript and do the appropriate type of
comment block?

I would try changing the filename extension. N++ using the extension to decide
which syntax highlighting to apply.

Hi,

maybe it's possible to merge this feature with WindowManager?

Best Regards
