I'm working since today with version 5.4 RC (ANSI) and the problem remains. The plugin is the original one and I'm using the ZIP- (therefore portable) version of NP++. I have write permissions to the folder, but in this case it is an UNC path (the problem seems to be the same with an local path). The path to the xml-file is ...Notepad++\plugins\Config\ I hope this helps, Simon ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. You'll see ANSI or Unicode at the top. If you use the standard installer, then you should have an unicode build. In particular the "Find all in current document" button is great! However, I think that the dialog could still be improved further to make it easier to search Up and Down the file. Thus I'd like to make a proposal. Currently, to change the direction of your search you must first select "Up" or "Down" on the "Direction" panel and then click "Find Next". This has several drawbacks: - It requires 2 clicks in different parts of the Find dialog each time that you want to change the direction of your search. - Whenever you open the "Find dialog" you must check the search direction, since Notepad++ remembers your last selection. It is quite easy to search Up when you want to search "Down" by accident. Instead, it would be much simpler to remove the "Direction (Up/Down)" panel and add a "Find previous" button next to the current "Find next" button. I think that this solution would be much better than the current version of the dialog for several reasons: - To change the direction of your search you would only need to click on the button corresponding to the desired direction. This means that instead of moving your mouse to the "Direction" panel, clicking on the desired direction, moving back to the "Find next" button and clicking it, now you could simply move the mouse to the button corresponding to the desired direction, and click it. Since both buttons would be next to each other, not only you would need fewer clicks, but also much less mouse movement. - You would not need to check or remember the last selected search direction every time that you open the Find Dialog. You would simply open the dialog and click on the button corresponding to the desired search direction. Also, for the sake of clarity, the buttons could also be named "Find Down" and "Find Up" rather than "Find Next" and "Find Previous". What do you guys think? Quite a few people a know use Notepad++ and they like it a lot, but many agree that searching up and down is a bit annoying. Cheers, Amadawn ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. A problem with overwriting 5.3 files with 5.4's? So if it happens to someone else, it could be a file mismatch. Theonly action I took was to delete the .dmp file. Now _THAT_ will be cool. Yes, that sounds great. >it wouldn't be that hard to add the saved markers to the jumping >up and down jump, since that doesn't require tracking marker handles... >Would that be helpful though? Yes, quite so imo. What I want, among other things, is an easy way to review my changes at the end of a session, to make sure I didn't make some silly mistake. If I could see all of the changes in chronological order, it would be even better, but if severe drawbacks to that exist, never mind. Thanks for "listening." ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. It is actually a very simple thing, even if you currently do not have any type of development environment setup yet on your system. If you are starting from no dev environment: Download and install the Windows Platform SDK and Visual Studio Express C++. Download and install an icon editor that can save xpm files( like Greenfish Icon Editor ) Download the source for N++ Open the .proj file for N++ and add the scintilla .proj file to the solution Copy the bookmark_xpm from N++'s xpm_icons.h to an empty file and save it as bookmark.xpm Open it in your icon editor and edit and save. Copy the new bookmark_xpm data from that file back into xpm_icons.h Compile the notepad++ test once you are happy replace your existing notepad executable with your new one, share, and enjoy! almostautomated ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
