hello,
notepad++ is great, i use it constantly as an all-around editor. but there's
a thing that i'd very much like to do. i want to make a user defined language
where the folding is like that in python - at indentations without having to
use key words. but i cant do it with the user define dialog. i know there has
to be a way since it's implemented for python but i cant figure it out.
i want to be able to fold like that:

text
   |-text
   |text
   | |- text
   | | text
   | |- text
   |-text

can s.o. more knowledgeable help me. thanks in advance :).

ultraedit has an option that i was accustomed to:
Find dialog defaults to word under cursor

i wonder is this option somewhere in notepad++? i couldn't find it, and i wonder
if there is a way to achieve this in notepad++?

it's really nice, b/c i could double click a word in the code and f3 to jump
to the next instance. i do like the intelligent highlighting in notepad++. is
there a way to jump to the next highlighted keyword?

thanks!

Hi all,
Keyboard file switcher 1.0 is now available. Hopefully not too much has
slipped
through my testing.

Changes in this release are:

+ ADDED Save column order
+ ADDED Save column sizes
+ ADDED Option to include view in search
+ ADDED Option to show view as separate column
+ ADDED Read only status now shown (thanks to almostautomated for his help on
this)
+ ADDED Option to Ctrl-tab without showing window (tab order only for now)
+ ADDED Config dialog now gives instructions on enabling the Ctrl-Tab
functionality,
if the shortcuts haven't been set

+ FIXED Page up / page down keys now work as expected
+ FIXED Order / file index column title - should have been "Index" to be
consistent
+ FIXED Bug with ctrl-tab highlight selection (found by fool4uanyway)

Must also give credit to Lee Turner, who wrote the SwitchBuffer plugin for
jEdit,
which I've used for years and missed in Notepad++.

Let me know if you spot any issues.

If there's no major issues that come up, is it ok to add this to the wiki page?

Many thanks,

Dave.

No I mean the print margin to the right. It's a line, not numbers.

Hello,

I have several requests for enhancements to make:

1. In HTML, the "xml:..." attributes like "xml:lang" and "xml:space" aren't
recognized.
2. In PHP the keywords "final", "instanceof" and "namespace" aren't recognized
3. I would like Notepad++ to save my latest search settings to disk. Or offer
some options where to set the defaults when restarting N++. I really don't like
wrapping in my searches, so I always have to uncheck this manually. Would be
nice to serialize the last setting. Same for replace etc.
4. I would like to set the indent type (tabs vs. spaces + number of columns
to indent) *per file type*. I want to indent lines by using tabs and 4 columns
for Java, PHP etc. but that setting is totally impractical for HTML, XML etc.
I want to be able to set these the indent to use spaces and just one or two
columns so the HTML/XML indentation doesn't become too wide. This makes a lot
of sense.
5. The same should be done for the print line margin, that is per file type.
I want to use different settings per file type. Would be nice.

#4 is the most important issue to me, then #3.

How can I make sure my request are actually read by the dev team?

Karsten

karsten,

#1 and #2: you can add them in the langs.xml file (html = row 94/95 and php
= 160/161

The other items are for the dev team.

Don't know exactly what you mean. When I just pressed Ctrl+Shift+O, there was
no blue color. Also, the grey color was way out of sight, because the selection
was at the end of the list. Would be nice if it were in sight when the window
opened...

I still get the _next_ document selected when I choose "Switch to previous file"
from the menu (and I would rather have this menu item before the "next" one).

In Notepad++'s User Language Define System, if I define a new language; then
later modify the definition, I can't save my changes because a dialog pops up
saying that the language definition already exists. What's the rationale for
that? Why wouldn't you allow someone to modify the dialog properties and save
them for a user-defined language?

Also, why can I not add symbols to the symbol list. Your symbol list does not
include := and you don't permit addition. Can you explain the solution or fix
the problem.

Other than these issues, I have been a happy user of Notepad++ for years and
thank you for a great piece of software.

Hi!

First of all, thank you all for a great notepad replacement!!

I believe though that I have found a problem with how file associations are
registered. Although it works fine, the way Notepad++ is registering it as the
file association, it breaks some nice features in Explorer, namely the File
Type and the File Icon.

For example: I associate the file extension .ini with Notepad++. In Explorer
Details View the file type says now "Notepad++ Document" while the .ini still
is a "Configuration Settings" even though I do open it with Notepad++. The same
is true for the displayed icon which is always the Notepad++ file icon. The
reason is that Notepad++ redirects in the Registry the extension ".ini" to its
own file type "Notepad++_file" instead of updating the "inifile" file type to
point to Notepad++.

My request is thus to remove the file type "Notepad++_file" and update
the appropriate file types when associating file extensions with Notepad++.
