The SpellChecker.ini file should be in the plugins\Config folder.

If it's not there create one as a text file using the 3 lines I noted above.
See if that helps.

Nevermind, Quicktext it's only supported for Windows XP. I'm on Vista.

Thank you for help but it did't help, because this menu is inactive. I tried
delete it from xml files, as result - can't run programm :) Must reinstall it :)

Macro:  I see, spit out the tags _before_ typing what I want between them. 
Handy if I remember to do that first.

Search:  The only Search I see in the top black band searches SourceForge 
projects,
not the forum.  Searching for the text "search" on the page shows only mention
within messages.

...  Ah, I see, the pull down "Forum".  It's greyed out, so I never thought
to click on that since I was already here.

WebEdit:  I think that's what I was looking for.  Thanks.

Just this morning (6:30am GMT+1), GUP is responding with a "yes" for an update
to 5.3.1.  I've had a quick look, and
"http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/update/getDownLoadUrl.php?version=5.3.1";
returns

yes 5.3.1 http://puzzle.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/notepad-plus/npp.5.3.1.In
staller.exe

Is this the updater getting excited about 5.4? :)

The "Find dialog" problem is resolving by disabling "transparency" checkbox
in the bottom right cornet of itself.

As of cyrillic problem, I have the same thing, try to disable UAC or start N++
in Vista or XP compatibility mode.

BUT. When I set the Vista compatibility mode, I can not use the N++ from the
Right Mouse Button (Open With) menu because it says it cannot find the needed
DLL file. So I need to start N++ only from the shortcut on my desktop.

I think this is begging for some sort of extension conflict mmanagement.

Perhaps an extra Preference tabs titled "Shared extensions" where the default
extensions shared by several built-in would be listed, together with radio 
button
to choose a default language to use when opening a file with this extension.

Handling user defined extensions seems to be harder, as it requires some run
time building of part of a dialog bbox. Doable still, but harder.
