I need to use backslash-n-backslash-t-quote as my replacement string. So far
I have tried using \\n\\t", but the \n gets replaced by newline anyway. Any
ideas?

Is there a way to sort multiple column sets?

I'd like that too.
Or the option to have a fixed tab width (like Firefox, for example).
So files with large names don't mess up the tab bar - id would just crop the
name.

Other suggestion: the little arrows to navegate along the tab bar are not veru
intuitive. I think the "left" arrow should be to the left of the tabs.

Thanks for a great software!

I am trying to create a text file. I have to hit "ENTER" at and of each records.
I see the <CR><LF> at the end of each record when I hit "ENTER". Is there a
way to hide that when I save it? Even if I did the View>Show End of Line? I
don't want the <CR><LF> to show up but I need to have and "ENTER" there.
Thanks in advance.

1. That's a good point - I'll add that in (actually it only connects to
validate
the files, more on that in a moment)
2. Yes, settings from gup or the default browser would be good. I'll make that
an aim for 1.0.
3. The validation step is not only to validate the download has happened
successfully, but to validate that a *known* file is being copied to your
plugins.
All plugins and external libraries have had their MD5s taken, so before they
are copied into your plugins directory (or Npp directory etc), the MD5 of the
file is checked against the known list. If it's not there, it produces the
warning. This does two things, 1. check that the file downloaded correctly,
and 2. check that the file contained within the archive is the same as the file
known to be "good". So, if a malicious developer changed the file to one
containing
a virus/trojan/backdoor/etc, then the user would be warned that the file could
not be verified and hence should not be copied. Perhaps the message needs to
be made clearer - any suggestions? This method obviously does not rule out
a nasty plugin (or other malicious file) being copied, as it's perfectly
possible
to create a file with the same hash and different contents, but it does make
it more tricky. The aim of this is not to completely eradicate the risk of
downloading dll's to run natively, but to mitigate the risk as much as possible.
Any ideas for extensions to this scheme are always welcome. (Signing at the
moment would seem out of the question, as there are several issues with going
down that route, but again, ideas are welcome)

4. Rollback has been mentioned before, and is certainly something i'm looking
into. It may be post 1.0 though, as (personally), i feel it would be good to
be able to go back to a previous version of a plugin you've never installed
("ok, so plugin X has been released as 2.0.0, and i really like it, but it keeps
crashing, maybe the previous 1.6.4.1 will be more stable"). So, rollback wants
to be more than just rollback...

Thanks for your comments,
Dave.

Hello Chris tnx for the reply.

I develop using Java, PHP and JavaScript languages, can that be done with them?

Can you link me some tutorial teaching how to define keywords and mark custom
folding points? :D

Sadly, after years of use it's time for me to say goodbye to Notepad++.
It must have grown too big to manage.
Over the years I've dealt with increasing crashes due to "access violations"
... now they are intolerable. I have dealt with seeing weird characters in
my programs appear and disappear randomly. But the final straw was noticing
that SEARCH AND REPLACE is no longer reliable. Sometimes it will replace all.
Sometimes it will replace some. Sometimes it won't replace anything even though
I can clearly see matchable strings. This is beyond scary to me to know that
mass replace actions on my programs may or may not have happened. I don't even
want to think about it. When it comes to SEARCH AND REPLACE ... anything less
than 100% reliability is a no-go for programmers.

Clyfton,

I understand you frustration, and indeed, the behaviour your are reporting is
troubling.
For the benefit of others and of the N++ dev, if you could give us steps to
reproduction of these abnormal problems, that would help us ensure others do
not experience them.

thanks in advance,

joce.

I wish I could give you what you request. Unfortunately, I am a very very busy
System Administrator and I am always going 100mph. I'm sure you are busy too
so you understand. I use Notepad++ on Windows XP and Windows 2000 computers.
Sometimes my eyes are distracted by something changing in an area that I am
not typing. I will look up and there will be garbage there .... then it
disappears.
Many times I have done search and replace and will see garbage characters added
to each replaced string. But later the garbage characters are not there. It's
as if they are word processing control characters which shouldn't be there since
this is a .txt editor. I have no idea why notepad++ would report access
violations.
I have reported those errors in this forum before with no response. They are
quite frustrating and sometimes happen numerous times in a session. They are
spontaneous. I see no pattern that causes them. Sometimes I can go days
without
seeing one. The search and replace problem is the worst and is unacceptable.
Sometimes it's a large document, sometimes many documents. I've seen it miss
replacements on several occasions. Today it was a very small document of 4
lines so it was easy to see. 4 lines each having a string to replace. It only
replaced 3. I have no idea why it ignored the other line.

Hi MMTsuchi,

I've tried to reproduce your issue, without success.

On my computers (one with XP and one with Vista), I haven't any issue with
comparing
read-only files. Maybe your issue is caused by something other than Compare/N++,
or maybe this is caused that something odd.

BTW, can you give me the file that cause this issue ?

Best regards,
Jean-s?bastien
