Is there a way to customize the toolbar in Notepad++ yet? I haven't used the
program in a while.

I'd really like to remove some of the buttons I don't need and add new buttons
for various functions provided by the plug-ins I have installed.

If this hasn't been implemented, any word on when it may become available?

Thanks!

Older versions would allow that, with unpredictable results on replay.

Currently, the only way would be to use an external macro recorder (like dm2
or autohotkey), using only the keyboard to change dialog box options, and never
changing the current shortcuts for Search / Replace / Find in Files.

The ability may be implemented properly, but this is far from a trivial change.

I concur. Find next and previous should work with the latest results of
incremental
search. It's only natural. Find and Incremental Search are tightly coupled
as tasks in every modern editor.

Hi,

I use N++ mainly to edit and run Stata files (.do, basically text files). Since
the latest N++ version, the program crashes whenever I try to open a Stata file.
I figured out that the problem doesn't occur if I disable the custom syntax
highlighting by deleting userDefineLang.xml. However, if I do that I have no
more reason to prefer N++ over Stata's own editor (almost). Please, let me know
what I can do to help and fix this problem. It's very important to me. N++ is
such an awesome editor...

The user-provided language file I am talking about is
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/userDefinedLang/userDefineLang_stata.
xml

Thanks for the attention

ML

A major nuisance bug for me involves incremental search. Here's the scenerio.
I press the hot key to begin incremental search and I begin typeing.

All is great and I find my text. I continue editing.

I use the hot key to begin incremental search again and begin typing, my search
text is prepended to my last search text and I never find what I'm searching
for. Horrible.

It should work like this, I hit the hot key and my last search displays in the
status bar -- only the text is highlighted. If I begin typing, my new search
overrwrites my previous search text. That's it.

Everytime I hit that hot key to begin incremental search, np++ should begin
searching, incrementally, for the text I'm typing -- every time.

This is working perfectly in 5.4.5.

I selected the Update Notepad++ menu pick from help (?) and it said No update
is available. I guess that's the bug. This was in 5.3.1

While I'm here. Incremental Search should be coupled to the Find text, so that
the Find Next hot key will find the next instance of the text I found using
Incremental Search.

I have the same problem.

Version: 5.4.3
OS: Windows XP SP3
No additional plugins/only std plugins

my problem is, that notepad++ crashes from time to time without any real
reason!
sometimes it crashes when i'm doubleclick text to select the entire word and
sometimes when i switch tabs.
this happenes to me since the last update to version 5.4.3 (dunno what version
i had before that).

i'm a php programme maybe it has to do with that (e.g. the source highlighting)

I assume you don't wish to reopen files you had edited. You do this by
unchecking
Settings -> Preferences -> MISC, Remember the current session for next launch

If you wan to start on a fresh document while having those from the previous
session opened, simply create one using File -> New.

Or is it something different still?

CChris

It happened to me to accidentally put the application in post-it r "always on
top" mode... the problem is, I didn't know/remember how to return to normal
mode... I had to kill the app!

I think that for a better usability it should be easier to switch mode, maybe
by a context menu or something similiar...
what do you think?

thank you anyway... it's a very useful app!
