Last I tried, comparing two (large) binaries would lead to a crash within 10-15
minutes.
I don't know what version, and I don't have access to my dev machine atm, so
I can't tell you what version I'm currently using. I'll update you tomorrow
on that detail.

Have you tried the xBrackets Lite plugin? Not sure if it does this, but that
would be the first place I'd look. After that, I'd look in the TextFX plugin...

I'm glad that you've already found a solution. However, a 64-bit version of
N++ can't be obtained very easily: someone's already tried it, and the result
was that the compiler reported hundreds of errors. And anyway, as Sune says,
it wouldn't be a solution. N++ just can't handle files of that size.
This is just to tell you that you must look for another editor (and I see you've
already done it).

Can I rather suggest LEAVING only the change marker on instead? That way, we'd
know the crash is either in the CM or in the core...

I have coded exactly that in my own version. The configurable highlighting has
not made it to Don's version (yet...).
You can get the sources from git at git://github.com/joce/notepad-plus.git .
Branch name is IncludeRedux

countdown: I've cleaned up the code quite a lot this summer, and a 64 bit
version
is in the plans for me in the near-mid future. Not 100% certain it would fix
your memory problems, but I'm not 100% on that. We'll know when I'll get there.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to create a macro that will enter characters
(in my case, three backslashes) after every line of text that is selected.
I've figured out how to create a macro that inserts characters at the very end
of a block of selected text, but not at the end of each line of a block of
selected
text.

I have fixed a bug related to a similar problem recently and indeed, you only
have 127 different styles you can have in a single document. Changing that
would be feasible, but totally non-trivial.
You better address your request to the Scintilla developers, as they might get
to it sooner than the N++ ones (and it's clearly more in their alley):
