To ECCOMAS 2000 Delegates

We hope you enjoyed the conference in Barcelona. Planning for ECCOMAS
CFD 2001 is progressing well. You should have received a copy of the
brochure while in Barcelona but if not an abbreviated version is

The closing date for the submission of abstracts is 15 December 2000.
If you work in CFD we look forward to receiving your abstract and
seeing you in Swansea next September.

Best wishes.

Swansea, Wales, UK, 4-7 September 2001

Organised jointly by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications
and the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Wales, Swansea

In Association with The UK Association for Computational Mechanics in
Engineering (ACME)

The European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences
(ECCOMAS) was created in 1993 with the aim of providing a high level
of co-ordination of scientific conferences and related activities in
Europe in the field of computational methods for the applied
sciences. The members of ECCOMAS are the European regional or national
societies or organisations that are representative of their community
in computational modelling, numerical methods and simulation in
engineering and the applied sciences. At the European level, ECCOMAS
represents the interests of the International Association for
Computational Mechanics (IACM). ECCOMAS maintains permanent updated
information via a home page on the web

The objective of the ECCOMAS CFD Conference series is to bring
together researchers, practical engineers and students working in the
general area of computational fluid dynamics. Previous ECCOMAS
Computational Fluid Dynamics Conferences have been held in Stuttgart
in 1994 and in Athens in 1998. In addition, computational fluid
dynamics has been a major topic at the ECCOMAS Congresses held in
Brussels in 1992, Paris in 1996 and Barcelona in 2000. The ECCOMAS
CFD 2001 Conference will be held at the University of Wales, Swansea.
The Conference will aim to cover the full spectrum of computational
fluid dynamics topics and will also include related areas, such as
computational electromagnetics, and multidisciplinary applications.
The Conference will include a special session to recognise the
contributions of Professor O.C. Zienkiewicz, on the occasion of his
80th birthday.

Among those who have agreed to make Invited Presentations at the
Conference are:

U.P. Bulgarelli, INSEAN, Italy
D.M. Burridge, ECMRWF, England
A. Dervieux, INRIA, France
F. Eulitz, DLR, Germany
T.J.R. Hughes, Stanford University, USA
G. Karniadakis, Brown University, USA
H. Rieger, DaimlerChrysler Aerospace, Germany
K. Walters, UW Aberystwyth, Wales

Swansea is a diverse city, rich in heritage, culture, entertainment
and nature. Centrally placed along the South Wales coast, the City is
just one hour's drive from Cardiff International Airport. There are
excellent road and rail links with London and London's Heathrow and
Gatwick Airports.

A mixture of en-suite and standard accommodation has been reserved at
the University of Wales, Swansea. Detailed information, together with
information on local hotel accommodation, will be available on the
website shortly at

Two page abstracts are invited by 15 December 2000. Notification of
the decision of the Scientific Committee will be given by 1 February
2001. Completed papers will be required by 30 April 2001.

The Organisers welcome suggestions for Special Technical Sessions
concentrating on particular topics that fall within the area covered
by the Conference. Such suggestions should be forwarded to the
Conference Secretariat.
