Dear colleague in the NW-IALAD/dams/concrete/rock mechanics community:
As a follow-up of our previous mail of May, this is to give information
about the benchmark event in the topic "Joints and Interfaces" that has =
been
organized within Task Group 2.3 of the EC-Network NW-IALAD ("INTEGRITY
ASSESSMENT OF LARGE CONCRETE DAMS" - http://nw-ialad.uibk.ac.at/ )
This benchmark exercise is open to participation of all groups =
interested,
and is organized as follows:
- The problems proposed are posted on the web page:
http://nw-ialad.uibk.ac.at/Wp2/Tg3/Se5/
- They cover most major aspects of interfaces in dams, including
constitutive behavior under quasistatics, cyclic, flow and coupled =
behavior
and fully applications to dam calculation.
- Those interested are encouraged to reply to this mail, indicating =
which
problems they'd contribute to.
- In a subsequent mail, and also on the web site, it will be indicated =
in
which format the results should be submitted.
- Recaptation of results from participants is expected through August,
September and October. They will be posted in the web site as they are
received.
- A workshop will take place at UPC Barcelona on Friday 19-November in =
order
to discuss the results and come to conclusions about the needs for =
further
research in the area.
