NL 18 COURSE - Nonlinear Computational Solid & Structural MechanicsMay 21 - 25,
2018, Pavia, Italy The main objective of this course is to provide engineers,
graduate students, and researchers with a review of numerical techniques and
solution algorithms for nonlinear mechanics. It presents the current
state-of-the-art in finite element modeling of nonlinear problems in solid and
structural mechanics and illustrates difficulties (and possible solutions)
appearing in a number of applications.
Different sources of nonlinear behavior are presented in a systematic manner.
Special attention is paid to nonlinear constitutive behavior of materials,
large deformations and rotations of structures, contact and instability
problems with either material (localization) or geometric (buckling)
nonlinearities, which are needed to fully grasp weaknesses of structural
design. The course will also provide insight both on advanced mathematical
aspects as well as into the practical aspects of several computational
techniques, such as the finite element method, isogeometric analysis, meshless
techniques, virtual element method. Advanced Course on Computational
Structural DynamicsJune 4-8, 2018, Prague, Czech Republic The short course An
Advanced Course on Computational Structural Dynamics covers topics relating to
modern and recent numerical methods in computational structural dynamics,
finite element method in linear and nonlinear dynamic cases, wave propagation
in solids and its numerical solution, numerical methods in dynamic contact
problems, buckling analysis, modern methods for direct time integration and
partitioned analysis, modal and spectral analysis, coupled problems (e.g.
fluid-structure interaction), reduction modelling in dynamics and many others.
The 2nd International Conference on Advanced Modelling of Wave Propagation in
SolidsAn ECCOMAS Regional Conference Institute of ThermomechanicsThe Czech
Academy of SciencesPrague, Czech RepublicSeptember 17-21 2018The 2nd
International Conference on Advanced Modelling of Wave Propagation in Solids
aims to bring together scientists and engineers with interest in advanced
modelling of wave propagation in solids. The Conference on Advanced Modelling
of Wave Propagation in Solids will concentrate on topics related to analytical,
numerical and experimental studies of linear and non-linear waves in
conventional, advanced and modern materials like metamaterials and auxetic
materials, to strongly dispersive wave propagation in inhomogeneous solids and
to waves in materials with microstructure, etc. Attention will also be devoted
to up-to-date formulations of non-linear constitutive equations in the
description of material response under thermomechanical loading, dynamic
fracture and damage, phase transformations, shock waves, and to dissipative
effects.
