For obvious reasons, the generate-thrift shell script will not work under
Windows. Nor are the thrift files regenerated frequently. Therefore, the
generate-thrift script should only be invoked when a 'thrift' profile is
specified. For example:
mvn clean compile -DskipTests -P thrift
