[~sonixbp] The standard community distribution of LaTeX is
[TeXLive|http://www.tug.org/texlive/], and the Mac version is called
[MacTeX|http://tug.org/mactex/]. I've never had a problem with pdflatex on Mac
with MacTeX (but it's been awhile since I used a Mac).
