Billie Rinaldi updated ACCUMULO-1354:
-------------------------------------
Attachment: ACCUMULO-1354-2.patch
Here's a version of the patch that leaves the profiles in test/pom.xml. So how
we build doesn't change (you still have to specify hadoop.version and
hadoop.profile when building against 2.0), but the poms are simplified.
I had hoped that we would just be able to set hadoop.version, but maven
profiles can't be activated based on ranges of versions.
If this looks OK, I'll check it into trunk.

> We currently utilize build profiles to hit hadoop 1 vs. hadoop 2 vs. other
> hadoop releases. One of the big differences between the two releases is
> hadoop-core vs. hadoop-client. However, as of hadoop 1.0.1, hadoop-client has
> been in existance for convenience. We can significantly simplify our builds,
> I think, by switching to only hadoop-client. This will result is only having
> to declare a hadoop 1 profile in a few test jars (for hadoop-test and
> hadoop-tools). All the poms will still need hadoop2 profiles, but being able
> to remove the default build profile through a majority of the poms should
> simplify them.
> I'm also not sure if this is something we want to do for 1.5.
