I consider this a non-critical performance bug, and should be handled in a 
future release, whether it's all bugfix releases or just 1.7.0, I could go 
either way.

If we do decide on bugfix releases and it's done this week, maybe I'll look the 
other way, provided it doesn't introduce any crazy issues. Is there a 
randomwalk test that uses the MTBW?
