Billie Rinaldi commented on ACCUMULO-1327:
------------------------------------------

I don't know how to try it out with jython, so feel free to do so. I've also
experimented with using asciidoctor-maven-plugin to convert an asciidoc version
of the manual to html. It's still not perfect, but it does allow you to build
the html using an arbitrary maven goal or phase, and it does have code
highlighting, table of contents, and single-page html. While asciidoc does not
have the same syntax as markdown, it is at least reminiscent of markdown.

> There are defects in the web-based documentation (see ACCUMULO-1104,
> ACCUMULO-1101, ACCUMULO-1100, ACCUMUL-1104). Find a decent document standard
> that can produce nice online and offline documentation formats, and move the
> current manual to that format.
