When I made 1.5.2-RC0, I found that the release-plugin didn't actually create
the normal commits that I expected. [~ctubbsii] found
[MRELEASE-812|https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MRELEASE-812] which points out
that the Git SCM provider that maven-release-plugin used in <2.5 had an issue
with newer versions of Git.
Bump up our dependency on the newer scm provider or just use the newer release
plugin to support the newer versions of Git.
