Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-3694:
--------------------------------------
It's likely relying on {{accumulo-site.xml}} and a properly defined
instance.secret. The root password isn't used at all for securing data in ZK.
> Include root password recovery steps in docs

> Project: Accumulo

> Components: docs

> Priority: Minor
>
> It would be helpful to add, perhaps in the Troubleshooting section of the
> docs, the semi-hidden feature that is:
> accumulo init --reset-security
> As a stab:
> Q: I've lost the accumulo root password, now what?
> A: Running "accumulo init --reset-security" will prompt you for a new root
> password. CAUTION: this command will delete all existing users. You will
> need to re-create all other users and set permissions accordingly.
