[~ctubbsii] - Thanks for the pointer.  I've uploaded a new patch that doesn't 
modify the external signature.  It looks up the tableId as you suggested.  I 
left in the refactoring that [~elserj] commented on above and that we discussed 
at the Accumulo Hachathon.
