The DBMS world (and the geodata world) seems to have adopted OGC (the Open
Geospatial Consortium) as the favored list of spatial data handling features
that systems should provide - including the "how" in terms of a list of spatial
function APIs and spatial data types. We should make sure we're not missing
any, or going in a wrong direction with any of what we're doing.
