Patch Set 1: Have you tried this change under heavy workloads? I'm using this change in my experiments (where I'm sending to a feed as quickly as a python script will allow), and less than an hour in queries stop working and I get a loop in the logs of "INFO: Attemping soft checkpoint..." every two minutes.
