> **Note on where the work happens:** The ALC chapter data files discussed below live in the **[`apache/comdev-site`](https://github.com/apache/comdev-site)** repository (the Hugo site for community.apache.org), under `source/alc/chapters/` — *not* in this `apache/comdev` repo. This issue is filed here for ComDev program/community tracking; any file edits (adding/removing chapter files, correcting `status`) should be made via PRs against `apache/comdev-site`. ## Background The chapter set now rendered on https://community.apache.org/alc/chapters/ was seeded from the ComDev wiki and public ASF announcements — not from a complete, authoritative export. We need to make sure the set of chapters we show matches reality, and the best way to do that is by talking to people, not just diffing a wiki page. Currently represented (14): Bangalore, Beijing, Budapest, Florianópolis, Hangzhou, Indore, Islamabad, Lagos, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei, Warsaw, Xi'an, Ghana. ## What to do **This is a community-engagement task, not a mechanical reconciliation.** 1. Use the authoritative "ALC Chapters" child pages on the ComDev wiki as a *starting* inventory — note any chapters that exist there but are missing from the site, and any on the site that aren't on the wiki. 2. For each discrepancy (and ideally each chapter), **reach out to the people involved** — chapter organizers, the proposers, or regional contacts — to confirm whether the chapter actually exists and is active, rather than inferring it from a page's existence. 3. **Encourage those conversations onto the [email protected] mailing list**, so the chapter's status, needs, and any onboarding/offboarding happen in the open where the whole community can participate and help. 4. Based on what you learn, open PRs against `apache/comdev-site`: - **Add** a Markdown file under `source/alc/chapters/` for any confirmed chapter that's missing (one file per chapter; see `source/alc/start-a-chapter.md` for the front-matter template). - **Correct** `status` (active / proposed / dissolved) for any chapter that's mislabeled. - For a chapter that turns out never to have launched or has clearly ended, discuss on dev@community before removing or marking it — the goal is an accurate, welcoming picture, not quiet deletion. ## Notes - Split this across people by region — pairing with someone who speaks the local language will make the outreach far more effective for several of these chapters. - This pairs naturally with the per-chapter check-in issue (#57); doing them together avoids contacting the same organizers twice. - Context: the single-page chapter model and this reconciliation need were discussed on dev@community: https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/xvgz10zq05rlt52rwq99963v11rjz0tc -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
