I'm seeing this in 1.6.1:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-1636
The reproduction steps seem to be:
1. Create a view document manually through "New Document"
2. Manually add view json
Observe: The view appears and behaves correctly. However if you try to edit it
through the View Code interface you will encounter this error.
I was able to reproduce this with these steps in a new database.
