ASF subversion and git services created COUCHDB-3258:
--------------------------------------------------------

Summary: A few things have gone wrong trying to use CouchDB...
                 Key: COUCHDB-3258
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-3258
             Project: CouchDB
          Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: ASF subversion and git services

A few things have gone wrong trying to use CouchDB with HTTPS.

Here is a complete guide of what I've tried to do:
https://medium.com/@silverbackdan/installing-couchdb-2-0-nosql-with-centos-7-and-certbot-lets-encrypt-f412198c3051#.216m9mk1m

And I have also tried asking a question on StackOverflow:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/41194127/couchdb-permissions-over-https

I haven't had any luck so far. I've configured SSL correctly I believe. The
main issue is that I can't use Fauxton fully over HTTPS and I believe it may be
to do with permissions not being the same between HTTP and HTTPS for the admin
user.

Main issues I think:
- Fauxton over HTTPS (Things don't work, configuration, admin management,
setup, mango queries, mango indexing) - verification runs smoothly though and I
can create databases it seems
- Not sure if it's related but if HTTP is enabled as well I get lots of
database shard in the HTTPS database
- I've tried Vhosts to use different database on ports which doesn't seem to
work (an error message saying files missing I believe), and you'll notice in my
config, I've had to change the bind_address variable location to get HTTPS
listening on a public IP

I'd really appreciate knowing if these are bugs or if my config is just wrong.
I'd also like to update my article/blog post to give a complete solution for
others who may have the same difficulties.

Thank you very much for your time reading this.

Kind regards,

Daniel
