Are there any tracebacks in the logfile? When you get a 500 back, what does the JSON say? Can you describe how you're performing the cluster setup? Are the nodes able to communicate with each other over all ports, or is there any firewall? Generally we recommend a 3-node cluster as the smallest cluster size, not 2-node, but a 2-node cluster should work.
