tonysun83 commented on issue #1718: Perform explicit $exists:false on Index validation URL: https://github.com/apache/couchdb/pull/1718#issuecomment-437206064 Instead of having an extra list, perhaps you can convert `RequiredFields` to be a tuple list: [{"field", false}, {"field1", false}....]. Then instead of removing it, you tag it with true. When it see `$exists:false`, you tag it with `exists_field` or something and then that can't be changed if the field shows up again later on.
