It doesn't make sense for us to implement this as a new feature, I agree with Jan. Another option is to block that endpoint using a reverse proxy. (In 2.x with a cluster a reverse proxy/load balancer is effectively mandatory, anyway, though I recognize some people still run 2.x as a single node server.) If you can't trust your admins, you've got bigger problems...
