But if this is the solution, wouldn't that just be postponing the error until there are enough branches that the next limit is reached? I don't fully get why resolving the conflicts would not eliminate elements from the atts_since. I guess you could still bring back a deleted branch so it needs to be checked? Would purging deleted_conflicts help here?
