Hi, thank you for this response, it is appreciated. If I could suggest a PR that is more likely to be accepted, take your additional logging lines but place them behind an optional flag (`-verbose`, for example). That could be helpful for folks running `configure` in places that it's harder to debug (like CI runs) without affecting anyone that doesn't want them.
