Sean Finan commented on CTAKES-192:
-----------------------------------
ctakes-dockhand is a simple installer for both a local binary installation and
a rest server in a docker file. The dockhand installer is a single tiny
executable jar file and opens a gui that allows a user to build a custom
pipeline.
It has been in 4.0.1-snapshot since 2020 and should be in the ctakes 5 release
with documentation.

> Based on user feedback, I am proposing to have a simple installer for Apache
> cTAKES.
> Currently, cTAKES uses Maven to compile and build a project. However, there
> are many moving parts and there is a steep learning curve to getting started
> with using the full potential of cTAKES.
> For example:
> Users would need to download binaries from ASF.
> Download resources from potential external locations (UIMA/UMLS).
> Configure a working pipeline to get results.
> Full installation instructions at:
> It would be nice to have a simple installer that automatically resolves the
> dependencies, prompts users to optional downloads, and configure a working
> pipeline. Something like MySQL's installer would be a really nice addition
> so more people could try and adopt the full power cTAKES and improve
> healthcare.
