Dániel Dékány commented on FREEMARKER-154:
------------------------------------------
My plan was, and is, to simply convert everything to Docbook under a weekend,
and then we switch, and that's it. At first attempt that
didn't happen... Like after a few chapters I realized I don't want to copy
example outputs, etc. But, I will try to do a burst this weekend.
Regarding MD reworking. Unless you rework stuff after what was already
converted, rather don't do that. After all the point would be that everything
will happen in that Docbook document. Reworking, when needed, too.
There's not too much to know about Docgen itself. It has a README in it, you
should read that, but I think that's about it. I guess the main investment will
be learning to use XXE, as it works quite differently than any other editor, as
it's a tree editor. If that won't happen, that's a problem, because at least
back then I couldn't find any alternatives that weren't a joke, for the purpose
of document editing (as opposed to editing configuration files, and XSL, etc.).
Surely it's just XML, so everything can edit it, but using an a proper editor
is critical.

> Add freemarker-generator-website module, and migrate all the Markdown
> documentation into it. So this is not just the website, but also the
> documentation, in a single Docbook.
