Resolution: Invalid
FreeMarker itself contains no facility to generate Excel files. You need to use
a higher level library/framework for that. Some of those possibly use
FreeMarker templates, but also add extra steps around that (like packaging the
template output XML into an xlsx file).
Thus, this is out of scope in this project, and I close this issue.
