Replacing an embedded object left the previous values of any field that was unset on the new instance. `encodeEmbeddedUpdate` called `encodeUpdate` without marking the update as embedded, so a null property was skipped instead of cleared. `encodeEmbeddedUpdate` now calls `encodeUpdate` with `embedded` set to true, and a null property on that path is written into `$unset`. That code is in `PersistentEntityCodec` and landed in grails-core with `a58aa145cf`. It is on `8.0.x`, `8.1.x`, and `9.0.x`, and it is in 7.0.17, 7.1.7, 7.2.4, and 8.0.0-RC2. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
