Hi @jdaugherty , I'd like to work on this. Plan: add the Observable<String> findBookAuthor case to RxServiceImplSpec as a failing test, then fix how the Rx adapters pick an implementer for an Observable of a scalar projection. It looks like SingleResultAdapter accepts it through the projection's isCompatibleReturnType without checking that the method returns a Single. It's on 7.0.x as well.
