Eric Milles commented on GROOVY-8930:
-------------------------------------
It looks like the choice within type-checked code is to bump the minimum
version:
StaticTypeCheckingVisitor#visitMethodCallExpression:
{code:java}
if (declaringClass.isInterface() && directMethodCallCandidate.isStatic()
&& !(directMethodCallCandidate instanceof ExtensionMethodNode)) {
typeCheckingContext.getEnclosingClassNode().putNodeMetaData(MINIMUM_BYTECODE_VERSION,
Opcodes.V1_8);
}
{code}
> JVM verification fails when using static interface method from inside

>
> {code}
> import groovy.transform.CompileStatic
> import static JavaInterface.doSmth
> @CompileStatic
> void doCall()
> {
> println doSmth()
> }
> {code}
>
>
> Compile and Run the script in groovyConsole. The result is JVM verification
> failure:
