Thanks @AndrewReitz, and sorry this sat for so long. I'm closing it because it no longer applies. When this was opened, invokedynamic was optional in Groovy, so `vmplugin.v7.IndyInterface` was about the only class in the grooid jar that used it. Excluding it kept the jar usable with `minSdk` < 26. Since Groovy 4, invokedynamic is the only bytecode mode. The Groovy jar and every class Groovy compiles use it, so removing that one class wouldn't change anything. (`v7.IndyInterface` is now a deprecated class kept for binary compatibility.) The build has also moved on: `gradle/assemble.gradle` is gone, jarjar was replaced by shadow, and grooid jars are produced through `withGrooid` in `build-logic`. The recent Android work in Groovy 6 and 7 (GROOVY-12384, GROOVY-12418, GROOVY-12419) targets Android 8.0 (API 26) and later, where ART supports invokedynamic and method handles. That's the supported baseline: Groovy 4+ on Android needs `minSdk` 26 or higher. GROOVY-8366 will be resolved on that basis. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
