As suggested by @andreaturli remote support could be added with the help of https://github.com/fjsanpedro/vagrant-node, but local is where vagrant is most useful. I am mostly using it through the [Apache Brooklyn](https://brooklyn.incubator.apache.org/) project while developing/testing, when I don't want to wait for remote cloud machines to spin up.
