Google would mix things up like that, wouldn't they? I'd rather go the route of 
normal artifacts being for regular Java, and "android" classifier releases for 
Android which could also help automate integration testing in theory as well as 
provide compile-time verification that Android-incompatible APIs are not used 
(e.g., see all the JMX-related Android issues in the past).
