1. the error in the trace logs should probably be attended to - ExceptionLayout 
has no property matching `conversionPattern` - looks like this was copied in 
from somewhere else perhaps?
2. if changing setup at the Oracle side changes the behavior, that would 
strongly suggest that the problem is _not_ the `AdoNetAppender`. The best 
suggestion I can give to debug the issue experienced at your side is to copy 
the AdoNetAppender class into your project, change the reference in your 
log4net config to point at your class, set breakpoints, and find out what's 
breaking.
