log4j-api provides numerous features that have no equivalent in slf4j (e.g.,
the Message API), and using slf4j here adds unnecessary overhead when you're
using log4j-core as the backend anyways. Unless we can get scala-logging to
switch to log4j-api, I think we can still justify this library.
