this is likely due to the new jakarta namespace, if you set the version to
8.x it should work fine:
```xml
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>jakarta.platform</groupId>
<artifactId>jakarta.jakartaee-api</artifactId>
<version>8.0.0</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
```
