just so that I understand: the difference is that snap reuses the same nb config between releases? Because even the zip has the same issue if a user would copy the conf into the nb user dir and keep using the same dir indefinitely. I personally would see this as non standard way of running netbeans for users who know what they do. I am fairly neutral on this tbh. But maybe this is not the right approach. A deployment FAQ or something like that could mention some edge cases? (somewhat related: this reminded me on https://github.com/apache/netbeans/issues/8179, where a user is running a third party dev build on gentoo which reuses the dir and builds a non-release config - and the fix to the problem was to clear the config) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
