Clean and concise (optimised) code should always be the goal. Leaving clutter 
in confuses developers leading to unnecessary cost for implementers and makes a 
harder sell to potential adopters.

Given that there are still open subtasks, it proves that this is still 
relevant. I welcome anyone willing to help out.
