Working on a 'more' complete version implies that current version (PR355)
works. (And this has not been contested). Any improvements to that (the current
PR) can be handled in due time as subsequent PRs.
There is no argument to delay/postponing merging this PR, other than this
'there is more in the pipeline' comment.
