Jacopo Cappellato commented on OFBIZ-13252: ------------------------------------------- In my opinion, while it is clear that this feature is based on some real world client use case, it seems too much customer specific to be included in OFBiz. In fact, I think that for the same use case, different customers may want to implement a workflow different from what you have described. All in all, I think that the basic feature provided by OFBiz, i.e., materials always returned to a facility is flexible enough to implement most use cases. E.g., you could use a special facility that represents items that have been returned by a production run, but are in the shop floor. This would not require any significant change to the system, apart from designing an ad hoc UI. > Add feature to support direct material transfers between users on the same > shop floor > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: OFBIZ-13252 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-13252 > Project: OFBiz > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: manufacturing > Affects Versions: Upcoming Branch > Reporter: Yashwant Dhakad > Priority: Minor > > In manufacturing settings, workers often transfer or return materials > directly on the shop floor, particularly when materials are unused or need to > be regenerated for future use in the same production run. Currently, Apache > OFBiz does not support recording such in-process returns or internal > transfers efficiently. It requires users to return materials to the warehouse > and then reissue them later, even though the materials physically remain on > the shop floor. > This leads to unnecessary steps, increased administrative effort, and > redundant or inaccurate inventory records. > To address this, a new *"Shop Floor Transfer"* transaction type should be > introduced in Apache OFBiz. This feature would allow users to record > *internal returns or handovers* of materials within the same facility during > an active production run. It will support scenarios where materials are > {*}returned for future regeneration and later reissued{*}, without requiring > warehouse involvement. > This enhancement will streamline production workflows, reduce overhead, and > ensure inventory records accurately reflect the actual material flow on the > shop floor. -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.20.10#820010)
