There are now two PRs for this same test failure: #7402 (opened from this issue) and #7403 (opened as a follow-up to #7260). Both add `subscriber.start()` before the test drains the scheduled task; #7402 places the call after populating the URI fixture, and its focused client-core suite (101 tests), Checkstyle, and triggered CI all pass. I have noted the overlap on #7403 and offered to close my PR if maintainers prefer that head.
